The Taylor Swift Engagement Ring: Everything You Need to Know
It was any other Tuesday at Frank Darling HQ, then suddenly it wasn’t. A quick trip to Instagram resulted in the recreation of that one scene from The Office, you know the one, “Oh-my-God. Ok, It’s happening. Everybody stay calm. Stay f***ing calm!” What can we say, Taylor Swift becoming engaged has that effect on us. And of course, we have our thoughts and feelings on the ring. Interested? Here’s absolutely everything you need to know about the Taylor Swift engagement ring.
The Announcement from the Showgirl
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past two years, you probably know that Taylor Swift, aka America’s Sweetheart, has been dating Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chief’s star quarterback. The duoo officially went public in September 2023, preempting Taylor’s Eras world tour and Kelce’s 2024 Superbowl win. Talk about a power couple. Unlike her last relationship, Kelce and Swift have spent considerable time soaking up the spotlight. These two have been snapped leaving parties, on vacation, and just generally soaking up each other’s love.
Now, just two years later they’re making things official. Swift posted an Instagram post featuring sweet photos of Kelce kneeling and embracing Swift amidst dozens and dozens of stunning white and pink bouquets. Cue the world collectively freaking out.

So What Does the Taylor Swift Engagement Ring Look Like?/
Ahh, yes, the question on everyone’s lips – just what does the Taylor Swift engagement ring look like? Lucky for us, Swift also posted a close-up of the ring. And if we weren’t lucky enough we also have confirmation of the ring designer. (Which, if Taylor is reading this, we’ve got some great wedding bands that will stack wonderfully with your design!)
The Diamond Deets
Let’s start with that sparkler, and what a sparkler it is! Jury is currently out on whether Swift’s engagement ring is an old mine or elongated cushion cut but it is definitively an antique diamond. How do we know? Look closely at the ring and you will see a small black dot – that tells us the diamonds culet isn’t there which is a feature of older, antique rings. The stone was most likely hand cut to sparkle like crazy in candlelight. The color? Colorless. The clarity? VVS1 at least. The carat size? While harder to tell, most likely between 8-10 carats.

A Shiny Setting
Of course, no diamond is complete without its setting. And the Taylor Swift engagement ring spares no attention to detail. Featuring a mini split shank, Swift’s ring is collet set, a type of ring setting similar to the bezel. Here, a thin rim of metal encircles the stone around it’s girdle and four prongs, one on each corner, ensure further ring security. It’s a super chic look that we’re seeing more and more of. (See: Zendaya’s engagement to Tom Holland.) If that wasn’t enough, the ring also features a delicate, hand-engraved pattern on either side of the stone.
Apparently, Kelce worked very closely with its designer, Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. Enrobed in gold, Swift’s ring is just like her, deeply complex, sentimental, and oh-so-sparkly. And to be expected from the singer who penned the lyrics, “Best believe I’m still bejeweled / When I walk in the room. / I make the whole place shimmer.”

As obsessed as we are? We don’t blame you. Here’s what you can bring to your engagement ring consultation to evoke bejeweled, Swiftie vibes.
Opt for Recycled Diamonds
What makes Swift’s engagement ring so true to her is its antique nature. Of course, a songstress known for captivating millions with lyrical prose would find herself drawn to a diamond that owns its own deeply-storied narrative. It would very much like to be included in the narrative, thank you.
And the best way maintain this narrative thread for your engagement ring dreams is by selecting a diamond that is either antique or recycled. Antique stones will always be natural. Lab grown diamonds are simply too new for antique classification. However, if you’re looking for the lab grown price with the storied vibe you can always opt for a recycled diamond. One of the most ethical options, a recycled diamond is a diamond that was previously loved and has returned to the market. It brings its own story and good vibes, perfect for those looking for a more affordable option that’s also deeply meaningful.

Consider Old Mine or Elongated Shapes
Swift’s engagement ring is either an old mine or elongated cushion cut. You can achieve the same look by prioritizing either cut. An old mine cut diamond will bring more vintage vibes to the party and an elongated cushion brings the dazzle. Of course, you’re not confined to these shapes. Marquise, radiant, emerald, oval, and pear cut diamonds all offer an elongated shape perfect for lengthening the look of finger and creating a spready sparkly.

Prioritize a Bezel or Collet Setting
Another thing that can make a big difference in achieving a Swift-approved ring? It’s setting. Like Swift, opt for a collet setting with mini split shank to capitalize on big vintage feels. Or, put your own spin on it by setting your diamond in a sleek bezel setting. Just remember, yellow gold is the name of the game here. But if you want white or rose gold, or even platinum – we certainly won’t stop you.

Customize Your Ring Setting
While Kelce opted to customize Swift’s engagement ring with delicate, hand-engraved pattern the sky really is the limit when it comes to ring customization. Consider adding unique texture with a raised-dot band or inscribe a secret message, just for your lover on the inside. Want to do as Taylor did? We got you too.
