Engagement Ring Essentials

So … you don’t know much about engagement rings. Perhaps you are completely at sea and don’t even know where to begin, and you don’t want a used car salesman pulling the wool over your rose colored glasses-wearing eyes. That’s what our Engagement Ring Essentials appointment is for.

This session focuses on education—diamond shapes, settings, metals, and pricing. You may be able to view stones we have on hand.

You’ll also be able try on sample settings, and talk about ring designs and how they may fit into your life. The goal is to gain clarity on what feels right. 

By all means, if you feel positive about what you want by the end of the appointment, we’re happy to take the leap with you and begin the design and production process then and there! But generally, we find that clients will have this initial appointment and then come back for the engagement ring consultation. 

You’ll get all of our industry secrets, too, including how to maximize your budget and what it’d look like to actually take the plunge with a Frank Darling ring, from creating a first sketch to having that blue box in your hand.

This is a 45 minute appointment. It’s completely free, too. Why not?

Engagement Ring Consultation

This is where the magic happens. Our engagement ring consultation is perfect if you’d like to propose within the next few months (or later, if you’re a planner). For this appointment, you’ll want a solid idea of:

1. What stone shape you want (oval, emerald cut, radiant, etc.)
2. What type of stone you want (lab grown diamond, natural diamond or alternative stone like a sapphire or moissanite)
3. How large you want the stone to be (give or take half a carat)
4. A ballpark for your budget

There, we’ll solidify your vision for your setting, including customizations and personal engraving details. 

Why do I need to know your stone preferences? Well, at this appointment, we’ll present what’s called a “stone flight,” a small selection of stones carefully curated per your communicated preferences. 

Your favorite from this flight will be the exact stone we set in your ring. Prior to the appointment, you’ll get a sneak preview of the flight via email, which you can provide feedback on before your appointment (within a small window of time).

These appointments are 1 hour long at any of our showrooms—and they’re our favorite appointments to host.

It’s a creative workshop where you’re in the driver’s seat, and by the end of it, we’ll have an actionable plan and a path forward for the rest of the process.

Virtual Engagement Ring Consultation

Our virtual engagement ring consultation is—you guessed it—basically our engagement ring essentials appointment, just over Google Meet. 

This session focuses on education. We’ll discuss diamonds, settings and pricing. As you could imagine, you’ll be limited when it comes to trying on settings, as you won’t be in the showroom. 

But you may want to order one of our Try At Home kits to discover your setting and diamond shape preferences in addition to your virtual consultation. Do note that you’ll only be able to try a few at home, as opposed to hundreds at one of our showrooms.

Since this is the virtual equivalent to Engagement Ring Essentials, we won’t be pulling a stone flight for your initial call.  

After an initial Virtual Engagement Ring Consultation, we can move forward virtually with a stone flight in a follow-up call. You won’t be able to interact with the stones in the flesh, but you will be able to see them over our call (we can send endless photos and videos, too!).

While we do mostly work in person, it is 100% possible to customize a Frank Darling ring from the comfort of your couch.
