The carat is the unit of weight of a diamond. Carat is often confused with size even though it is actually a measure of weight. One carat equals 200 milligrams or 0.2 grams. The warmest end of the near colorless range. A popular choice for yellow gold, faces up faint yellow with buttery undertones. Can lean grey, brown or pink.

Inclusions are only visible with effort under 10x magnification—get out your jeweler’s loupe—but can still be characterized as minor and generally aren’t visible without magnification. Watch out for black inclusions reflecting through the table which can be visible in step cut diamonds.
